Miniature Antique Bathtub

Simple is as simple does and you cant get much more simple than this little antique "galvanized" bathtub.

I used a bottle of Dawn and just cut along the natural curve of the bottle.  After that it was only painting.  And speaking of painting... when I am cleaning up my mess after a project like this, it is amazing how many different bottles of paint I use!  To get this look I had four shades of gray, white, black, gunmetal with a shimmer and silver with a shimmer, and also brown and another brown for the wash.  That's nine bottles of paint to get the look I wanted.  lol!  Well the mess was worth it.  Have a wonderful day!

I painted on a coat of Mod Podge and let it dry before painting the tub.

This is a layer of chalk paint.

a tiny washtub

if you follow my instagram you've already seen this little gem.  even if you have... i'll tell you anyway.  :)

recently, we had a weekend four wheeling trip planned.  our first camping trip in over a year and a half.  as I was getting ready for bed the night before, i noticed a small bottle of mouthwash in the trash.  little did I know i was to wake up at 1:30 am and make something out of it.  something just wouldn't let me go.  i had to... although i did wait until 2:30 am.

this tutorial shows the washtub being made from a small wine bottle... the kind that comes in a four pack.  i like to buy the four packs to cook with when making sauces that call for just a half cup or cup.  if i were to open a normal sized bottle it would ruin.  see the logic?

i simply cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle, glued on ribbon handles and details around, painted and distressed using colored sawdust.  i really like the way this turned out!!

i also used a nail file to smooth out the rough cut edge.

i found this ribbon at hobby lobby.  i found it easy to separate the strands.

i scored the sawdust from my dad's woodshop.  you just stir it around with tiny drops of paint.

the painting took several coats (of several shades of gray, black, white and a silver finish).  i guess i thought watching paint dry was too boring to take pictures.

the rusty sawdust can cover up imperfections.

thanks for checking this out!

Crafty Pringles Cans

Yeah... Pringles! Who doesn't love a good handful of Pringles every now and then. They are decently priced and taste great and in many varieties but don't you just hate to throw that can away? With the thought of Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, can't we find something else to do with them? I say Mod Podge it!!

Tear pictures from your favorite magazines, brush on either watered down white glue or good ole Mod Podge and paste your pictures right to the outside of the can. Be sure and wash it out first and save the lid!
You can use the Pringles can to house pens and pencils, straws, paint brushes, utensils, etc.

You can even use the shorter cans for smaller items like crayons, q-tips, or even organize your junk drawer!
