lovin right now

With a most lovely Florida vacation now in my back pocket, I am holding on to a select few things and calling it "loving right now".  For starters I was introduced to Hawaiian Tropic's shimmer sunscreen tanning lotion by my nieces a couple of weeks before the vacation and picked up a bottle for myself, along with Neutrogena's  spray spf 70 and lotion 30 spf.  I found myself spraying down with the 70, lathering on the 30 and topping it off with shimmer lotion like cool whip on jello before sunning on the beach every day.

On the way down my niece Lacey pulled out a bag of Bigs dill pickle sunflower seeds.  The first mouth full was a bit sour in taste but after I got through it I wanted more.  And more I had... all... week... long.  I found myself on the beach tucked up under an umbrella spittin seeds, drinking Bud Light tomato beers with my nose crunched in Fifty Shades of Grey.  I don't care who says it's raunchy.... I think it's the fastest I have ever read in my life.  I love the story line although it's a bit far fetched and plain out fan-tasty.

Speaking of tasty... Nature's Harvest honey sesame sticks and plain M&Ms mixed together in harmony inside a sandwich sized Ziplock are ta-ha-sty.  Did I mention I had a Birkenstock goal in mind way before I even headed south on I65? Well I did... and I achieved my goal on Monday.  Why wait to break in a good thing??  We visited the local Florida Birkenstock store and they were mine in minutes and I love them.  I wasn't home a day and they had garden dirt all over them.  I can't have nothin I tell ya.

So.. there's my post vaca "lovin it".  xoxo

Vintage Enamelware Uses

Ahhhh my beloved enamelware.  It's true... enamel pieces and I have had a long going love affair for years upon years.  To this day I cannot get enough of the stuff.  I usually find pieces at yard sales and antique shops and I have had to say no from time to time if an item is priced too high though believe me when I say I didn't want to.  I have bowls hanging on walls, ones I use in the kitchen all the time and some that I plant in.  Even the coffee pots get some use housing feathers and flowers in different areas of our home.  I have bigger pieces that I use when canning green beans and pickles for rinsing and soaking purposes.  The list of uses for the old enamelware just go on and on.  I decided to pick five fun uses of enamelware pieces that I have used lately to share with you!  I hope you fall in love and find lovely pieces of enamelware for yourself... or for me!

A beer bucket from an old chamber pot.  Keeps 'em cold!

Hens & Chickens planted in and old pee pot.
Quite the conversation piece.

Lemon Balm given to me by a friend will have plenty of room to fill this large bowl with rust holes in the bottom.

I have taken to using cheaper laundry powder and this old cooking pot with lid serves as the perfect holder instead of some ugly box sitting around.

An old colander works great for an evening ice bucket.  As the ice melts the water falls into the beautiful bowl underneath.

Do you have a "thing" for enamelware?  If so I'd love to hear about your uses for the stuff.  And if you need to get rid of some... well you know I'll take it off your hands.

Sloppy Bar-B-Que

AKA pantry and fridge clean out!  But seriously, pork roast is a very good thing.  We raise our own pigs so I generally have one in the freezer but the price of pork is pretty low right now and you will find pork roasts on sale quite often lately.  So grab one up and bring 'er on home.  I made this one, which I have no picture of oddly enough, with simple pantry and refrigerator staples like beer, ketchup, tomato sauce, onion... you get it right?  And I kind of made up measurements in the recipe because as you can see I just emptied what I had basically.  So have fun and enjoy the results.

By the way, every one's crock pot is different.  I know because I own four... wait five.  I have an old one from my Grandmother, one decent size one, one iddy biddy one and one large one.  The large one, that I use most often, has a mind of it's own and cooks just as hot on low as it does high.  I have seriously over cooked things on low in that crock pot.  So when I say cook on low in the recipe please use your own judgement when using your crock pot.  My low could be your high, your low could be like my warm. Cornfused?

Once again, I give you permission to right click and print the recipe and would be as honored as a Robertson County Fair winner if you made it.

Here are the only pictures I took.  They are of some importance since I just grabbed and squeezed ingredients into this recipe.  And if you don't have molasses just use brown sugar and hush.

TaaDaa!  Shaun likes his Sloppy BBQ open-face style on white bread.  I like mine on a bun with cheese.  Good N Sloppy!  This ain't no dry bar b que y'all!  You're gone love it!
