theme songs

I feel like this post deserves a bit of a British accent.  I am a BBC nut.  I actually look up BBC at the library and rent BBC shows.  I love them.  I think it may be a heritage thing.  Something deep within that I feel a connection with.  At the same time, I have several shows that peak my interest and tickle my heart strings at the mere sound of the show's beginning.  My most favorite, as of late, is The Great British Baking Show.  I picked up season four after work yesterday and as soon as I got home and got to work in my kitchen the show came on  and my stress of the day immediately melted away.  This isn't the first show that melts my nerves away.  I have a few and there theme songs are as follows...

The Great British Baking Show

Doc Martin

Downton Abbey

Keeping Up Appearances

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

And on the more American side...

Sex and The City
The Golden Girls

Will & Grace

The New Girl

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I have to go now.  I am cooking supper, my new Rumba "Selma" is vacuuming and I was just told that my shirt is on inside out.

What the?!?!?! I've got my British Baking Show to watch on top of all of this!!!

XOXO my lovelies

glitter love

I Sewanee... I would name a child glitter.  I would name a pet glitter.  I would name a fish Ultra-Fine Glitter.  I love glitter.  Ironically I have a sister who hates glitter.

I need some navy blue glitter, which the mere thought of gives me a weird head rush, for a craft project.  I found an Etsy store that I have been staring at for no less than 20 minutes.  I could quite possibly be her new favorite customer.  She's got it all.  My mouth literally started to water when I saw all the sparkly things in her shop.  Just look at them...

Don't you just want to get your hands in it!!!!

Medium shiny clear!?!?!?!?  WHAT?!?!?!

Oh for the love of all things shiny!! Copper.  I'd definitely name a chicken Copper.

How can one have 3 shades of gold?!?!?!  Not why.... how?!?!

BLACK HOLOGRAM?!?!?!  You have no idea how loud I just yelled that.

Right now.. I wish my super power was to make myself incredibly small so that I can do the Nestea plunge into this beautiful green greatness.  It reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.

MOSS???? That's it!! Witch Kitchen Re-Do!!!

Please... I encourage you from the bottom of my glittery heart... if you are in need of a glitter fix like I am you must visit this fantastic little Etsy shop

book crush

So... I'm kinda in love with a book right now.  Not sure how soon the library will be getting this one back.  Although I'm sure I can't renew it because I was on the wait list FOREVER!  You probably remember it from my "literally on the library hold shelf" posts.  It's a home décor book by Justina Blakeney called The New Bohemians  -  Cool & Collected Homes.  I seriously didn't pull it out of my library bag for a couple of days after I got it but when I did... man it was on!  I poured over it's pages of beautiful pictures and homes and people and their stories and all of it literally writing down page numbers that I wanted to photograph and keep because I didn't have my camera with me at the time.  It's so homey and inspirational.  I made notes on several things that I went home after work and did.  I still have notes on other things yet to come.  Just look...

Just another hint to redo my utensils in my kitchen that I still haven't done.  It's on my list of things to do next.

I am digging the bookshelf by the bed and feel I need one instead of the table that I have now.  I constantly have books stacked among other things.  The bookshelf looks more like it's stored on purpose.  I like it.

The greenhouse.... I'm drooling.

A good place for a "find it"!  What a colorful life!

I love the "adopt and idea" sections.

Aaaahhhh this rug!

I liked how the books are in color order on the shelves.

The fella from this space literally hand sewed all of this denim on his couch over the last few years a piece at a time as he got it and is still patching it on.  How cool is that?

Yea.. that's my hair and that chair is bad ass.  That's how I want the seats in my truck to look.. soon.

Even the cover is gorgeous.

And that's what we did that day... at least one of us.

Happy Birthday Sonya Lopez!!!

Seriously... she's a gal I went to school with and haven't seen in twenty three years but I still remember her birthday is October 12th.  Weird what you hold onto.

around here

In Bloom was the title I envisioned for this post.  But it truly is what's going on "around here."

I have said it before.  I believe there are two "most wonderful times of the year."

If you came to my home right now
and took a stroll around with me
here's what you would see.

3rd year Caladiums.

Begonias from a friend.

One of my QVC bulbous begonias.

and another.

and another.

Yellow roses.

Tomato blooms.

Butterflies loving the milkweed.

Green bean blooms.

Zucchini blossoms.

Dragonflies resting atop corn stalks.

Black bean blooms.

Basil blooming too fast for me to snip it.

Orange Zinnias  -  new to me this year.

Pixie zinnias from saved seeds.

Cucumber vine flowers.

Water Hyacinth from a friend.

Begonias from a friend.

I am right fascinated by this one.  How lovely.

Can you spot the tadpole in my water hyacinth?
It is one of many... many... many tadpoles in there.

A Valentine For Me

I have such a good husband.
He asked what I wanted for Valentine's Day.
I told him the new Skyline Fever shirt.
He said order a bunch of them.
I said "I only need one".
But I wound up getting three.
I am super excited.
I have four of their shirts already.
And now I will have more.
I wear them all the time.
Sometimes I sleep in them.

The Janis Tee. PRE ORDER - Womens Tri Orchid
I got the women's shirt in this one.

The Willie Tee. PRE ORDER - Unisex Heather Grey
I got the unisex size shirt in this one which is the most comfortable ever!

The Gatherer Tee. PRE ORDER - Womens Tri-Clay
And this one is my favorite!
I fully love the poem that Laura wrote that beautifully adorns the shirt.

I truly cannot wait!!!

This is my favorite of the ones I already own.

Live By The Moon Tee. PRE ORDER - Unisex Athletic Grey

James who owns the shop makes the designs and makes the shirts himself.

fall at the flea market

This past Friday, my sister Mary Evelyn, our friend Christal and I, ventured out to the Nashville flea market.  We spent the whole day browsing around on a gorgeous with blue skies and plenty to see.  September if one of the largest of the year.  There were even booths in the furthest outside barn and I am a firm believer in the further away from the action the cheaper the prices.  Well.. for the most part.  I did buy a large enamelware bowl for three bucks.  I didn't even have to haggle with the guy... and it's in awesome shape.   I will tell you this much... Fall is everywhere.  From pumpkins to creepy baby dolls limbs the flea market was in good form for the season.  We had a blast... even left to eat lunch at Baja Burrito (my fave of all time) and went back for more... dang near til they closed!

Someone spent some time on this one!  I gather the different threads were dyed using the bits of nature they point to.  Pretty neat!

This fella sang us a song with our names in it.  Pretty clever guy.

The lady in this booth sassed me for taking pictures.  I told her I usually won't if it's original art.  You're selling kid's blocks lady and no... I won't buy anything now.

I wanted this mirror.  I loved the worn velvet look to it but she wouldn't come off the price enough and it was too early in the day for me to drop this much on a mirror.  At least I have a photo memory of it.

I have been wanting one of these rock salt lamps for a month or two.  Ever since I saw one at a yard sale and didn't even ask how much it was.  Well... I have one now.  I didn't buy from this vendor for twenty bucks.  I walked on and wound up finding one for ten dollars later in the day.  I love it!

In my taxidermic conquest I vow to make this full mount laying down my goal.

Who wants a caramel apple??

I really liked this sterling silver ring with a crystal.  I've not seen one like this ever.  It looked pretty old and wasn't priced terribly high but alas the thing was just too small.
