For sure not our last trip to the creek ever... just our last trip for the summer. Sad, I know. But me and a couple of kids from the DC wanted one more day's play in the cool creek water. We hunted crawfish, tossed rocks in, felt the heat of the August sun and the cool rocks beneath our feet. We even took a picnic lunch with us and ate at the creek. Even Katie Bug got to go!

Meet Our Scotty
I am tickled to death to show you our new camper!!! We've been spying small campers here and there on the internet for some time now. We had to bury our last one, which was a slide-in truck bed camper on a trailer, because it had pretty much rotted... poor thing. That was more than four years ago. Since then, we've stayed in friend's campers and even camped in Black Rose a time or two. But a couple of weeks ago, I finally spied one that turned out to be right down our alley. It was an early morning at the DC and I was eating my breakfast and searching on craigslist when I found our Scotty. We couldn't go look at it until after work and at the price it was listed at I knew there would be no way it would still be for sale. So my sister suggested we ask her husband if he would be in the area of the camper and he luckily said he would go check it out for us. Lucky for us that he did because a few hours later Scotty was parked outside the day care!
It is a 1987 Scotty, 16 foot trailer/13 foot camper that sleeps four, with a bathroom, kitchen sink and cook top with refrigerator and heater. The man selling it said he didn't think it had been camped in over twelve times and had been stored inside it's entire life. We got an awesome deal y'all. I can't wait to share with you our weekend adventures in our new '87 Scotty camper!
These pictures were taken right when we got it. I hadn't cleaned it up yet but didn't really have to do much. It is in excellent shape.

What I'm Lovin Right Now
When I ordered my garlic from Burpee, I also threw in a packet of mixed lettuce seeds. When they got here I was surprised to see that they were actually pellets containing several kinds of lettuce seeds. I quickly popped them in to the garden at the DC and into an enamelware bowl-turned-planter on my front porch. Until now I've not grown lettuce before and I had no idea how much I would enjoy the fresh taste of homegrown lettuce. I like to pluck off a small branch just to munch on going in and out of the house. I have even put in a second planting to be ready after we use the first crop and will do it again once more. The best thing is that I can move my planted to the covered porch if a frost is predicted and I think it should still be ok. If not... lessen learned. I have enjoyed it so much I am planning on a spring crop. Oh and I have also planted spinach and turnip greens. YUM!
The spinach has so far done better in the garden at the DC rather than in the pot. Either way it may just produce a decent crop for the two of us.

Buffalo Hunt
Sometimes, when you order something online, you make a friend. Especially when you shop on a handmade and vintage site such as Etsy.com, where I have my shop Peppysis. I was in the market for a new cross-body bag and came across the cutest, handmade bag with fur on the front and had to have it. After communicating back and forth with the lovely owner of Skywalkerflutes, I wound up receiving my new bag with an added surprise inside for the kids at the DC. She had sent me a handful of buffalo teeth, which she sells in her shop. They already had a hole drilled in each one and were nice and shiny. The kids loved making necklaces and going on a buffalo hunt to the dirt pile!
Thanks so much to the ever-talented Barb!
He also found a piece of buffalo bone.

Junk NR Trunk Sale
HEY GALS! Junk NR Trunk time is here!
My ever-talented big sister, Mary Evelyn, and her equally talented pal,
Denise, are hosting their second annual barn sale.
These gals hunt and pick, paint and sand all year getting ready for this sale. Their prices are extremely reasonable and their taste is fantastic. And let me say that you'd better get there early! The Thursday night showing is the best.
