weekend adventures

Just one of many weekend adventures from this weekend... Trash and Treasures yard sale in Crossplains, Tennessee.  A "must go" for us.  I even cancelled my hair appointment to go.... sort of regretting that now given the status of my roots and grays this morning.  At the sale I bought a new semi-large bucket, two enamelware tubs and various other small things.  The tubs and buckets already have dahlia and zinnia seeds planted in them.  By the way, I will be separating my hens and chickens (plants) this weekend because of their over abundance if anyone would like to have some.  They are very tough plants that will and have made it through some tough winters no problem.  I just let the clouds water them too.

I spy

At the request of a few, here is another I fun spy!  Even though yard sale season has already begun around here, it's never too late to train your eye to find the goods.  Even pros can skip over something they are looking for when there's so much to see.  Good luck!

By the way, the pictures in today's I spy were all taken at Phillip's General Store in Bellbuckle, Tennessee which is our very favorite store possibly in all the world and some of them have my beloved Christmas featured.  I feel it is necessary to include because yard sales have Christmas decor every week but because it's summer and we're not thinking of Christmas decor right now we tend to skip over it when in fact now is when you find the deals... not at Walmart on December 10th!  Come on!  Just look at these bottle brush trees!  They are out there folks... you've just got to train your eye.  Love it!

I spy......

A halo, a stocking, gold trim and gold stars and a tiny white tree.

A silver deer, a lava lamp, two pewter wine cups, MLK, a dough bowl, and a cake stand full of balls.

A make-shift lamp, three silver snowflakes, a shoe iron, and the number 16.

A Bunch of daisies, two finials, a blue bowl with a lid, a lemonade stand, a pretty doll, a bow and a flower in a frame.

A strand of vintage lights, Gallatin Road, a checker board, two log cabins, a holiday wreath, a straw hat, and a picnic tin.

A pitcher, a blue flower, a red horse shoe, a lovely bride, Bobbie Bubbles and Harveys, two little pillows, and one red bird.

An American flag, a big turkey, a stuffed dove, A squirrel, a mad indian, and a white light bulb.

Three pine cones, a poinsettia, a white reindeer, six churches, some candy, a window, golden wings, four bottle brush trees, and a black number twelve.

a few more pictures from the flea market last weekend.  i love seeing what i missed in the pictures that i took.  not really.  but i do get ideas on what to look for at yard sales should i be in the market for something and want it cheap!  yard sale season is just around the corner!  and in case you were wondering, there are five seasons... winter, spring, yard sale, summer, fall.  take your pick on which is your favorite.  i tend to be a summer girl myself... accompanied by... yard sale.

now, a bit of yard sale training to get your eyes in gear in the form of "I Spy".

I spy a blue cross, a pink donut, two chinese beads, an orange frame and pears..

I know.. that was way to easy.

I Spy a duck decoy, five pumpkins, a Bambi book, a silver helmet,a mini rolling pin,
 an eagle and a wee black doll.

 Still pretty easy but I bet you had to focus.

 I spy a bronze statue, three gnomes, a set of china cups and saucers, a happy face,

a mortar and pestle, two blue ball jars and eight time pieces.

This is fun.

I spy, a jack daniels bottle, seven faces, four turkeys, a trophy, and a ladder.

 That one made me giggle.

I spy a tree and the number four, two ladders, a star wars sign, and iron kettle,

 valentines and a wooden foot stool.

Feel like you're spending way too much time on this blog?  Then you're not ready for yard sale season!  Keep going!  Just a couple more.  I am having way too much fun.  Combining two of my favorite things,

I spy three parrots, driftwood, two humongous dough bowls, the competition, blue sky and 

nothing that you need.  Move on.

I spy a candy jar, a stove, a saucer, a big enamelware bowl I should have bought, a bicycle,
a cupcake pan and a scotty dog.

 Let me know if you can't find something.

I spy a hook, a chest, an odd statue, a trash can, three wooden boxes, a violin, 

four ladders, a basket and ten fans.

 I realize there are two additional fan bases.  Only a professional yard sale-r would have noticed that.

You are making me so proud right now.

Ok, last one.

 I spy zep, five grain sacks, four wagon wheels, a blue wire basket, a red enamelware bowl, a boat motor, a gas can, an oil can, three pumpkins, a stack of baskets, more bounce per ounce, and a six wheel wagon.

Tripped you up a little bit on the wheels.  Oh well... here's a bonus one.  Not many look at the costume jewelry so it's extra credit training.

I spy a horse, a ballerina, three butterflies, a gold bracelet, two pink roses, a pearl head and a golden basket.

Now, if you can still focus enough to see good go hit some yard sales!  You are officially tuned in!

A Christmas Open House

Oh my goodness y'all.  A couple of times a year, by invitation, a sweet lady named JoAnn who lives in Crossplains, TN,  opens her beautiful home and shares her wonderful sense of decorating and treasures for all of us to gawk at.  Christmas is one of those times and she also sells vintage goods, Christmas things and handmade items for those of us who want them.  I absolutely love her style and adore walking through her home with the Christmas everywhere and the smell of hot apple cider floating in the air.  We browse through taking notes and pictures and leave filled with ideas and inspiration.  This year, I thought I'd share some of the pictures of her wonderful open house with you.
