Etsy Shop Update

 Good day to you all!  I wanted to let you know that I have listed some of my handmade miniatures along with some vintage miniatures for sale in my Etsy shop!  It's been a while since I've offered my miniatures for sale.  I do love each one of them so but sometimes you've just got to clean house.  So I decided to share some!  There is always free shipping on my miniatures.  I also sell fabric scraps hand chosen with the tiniest patterns perfect for minis.

Miniature Vintage Lamp Tutorial

 Hello!  These lovely little faux vintage lamps are simple to make and look stunning and real in your miniature setting or dollhouse.  Just a side note before we begin to plug my Etsy shop... I  do sell these from time to time in my shop if you don't want to go through the trouble of making your own.  

They are made from plastic paint trays from Dollar Tree that come in a set of three (I think).  Other materials include a pre-made spindle for dollhouse furniture or stairs, jewelry findings, sewing pins, paint and glue.

HA!!  Below is a real example of my skills.. lol.  Don't know what I was doing with the edit to get the red marks.  LOL

I pre-poked holes into the center of the spindle on top and bottom to make with the pin to make it a little easier to insert.

Below shows the pin stuck up through the jewelry piece into the spindle.  You will want to apply glue to fix these permanently.

For the base coat I used a drop of paint mixed with a drop of clear drying glue and a tad of water.

Paint flowers using a few colors mixed on your tiny brush and apply using swooshes or paint in a circle.  Then paint leaves and branches if you wish.

I used chains from old earrings for the light pull.  Snip a pin and put it through the piece of chain then stick the pin into the side of the spindle for the chain pull look.  Cut your chain to the proper length.

I also painted the spindles.

Lastly, you will need to cut out your lamp shade and poke a hole in the center of the lamp shade, put a pin through a smaller jewelry finding and stick (with glue) into the top of the spindle.

I Sewanee... I would name a child glitter.  I would name a pet glitter.  I would name a fish Ultra-Fine Glitter.  I love glitter.  Ironically I have a sister who hates glitter. 

I need some navy blue glitter, which the mere thought of gives me a weird head rush, for a craft project.  I found an Etsy store that I have been staring at for no less than 20 minutes.  I could quite possibly be her new favorite customer.  She's got it all.  My mouth literally started to water when I saw all the sparkly things in her shop.  Just look at them...

Don't you just want to get your hands in it!!!!

Medium shiny clear!?!?!?!?  WHAT?!?!?!

Oh for the love of all things shiny!! Copper.  I'd definitely name a chicken Copper.

How can one have 3 shades of gold?!?!?!  Not why.... how?!?!  

BLACK HOLOGRAM?!?!?!  You have no idea how loud I just yelled that.

Right now.. I wish my super power was to make myself incredibly small so that I can do the Nestea plunge into this beautiful green greatness.  It reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.

4 Etsy Finds

Well hey y'all!!!  I've been off work since Thursday... needed a little Laurie time... and I've thought about blogging every day.  It really doesn't take that much time but it's the fact of stopping what I am doing to stare a the computer.  No thanks.  But over coffee on Sunday morning.... OK! 

I've been on Etsy this morning... drooling. 

I am in absolute love with the morel walking stick.  Amazing.  I showed it to Shaun and he said "oh, you need that!"  Here is the LINK.

These earrings!  I've got to where I don't ever wear earrings because they make my earlobe itch.  But these are beautiful!  Here is the LINK.

I actually did buy this soap.  Activated charcoal is supposed to be good for skin problems as is rosemary.  This soap has both.  Here is the LINK.

8 etsy finds

what an amazing morning.  clear headed, light snow falling, dirty hair.  ive been hunting around on etsy this morning.  not really for anything in particular.  but oh the stuff you can find that makes you wish you had a five hundred dollar bill handy to get whatever. 

i did buy the black rose seeds.  and if you don't know why... you should if you know me at all.

the libra journal is precious.  i have bought other journals from her in the past.  love them!

the moon ring.  oh if only precious stones weren't so pricey.

if i could crochet i would buy this pattern and begin immediately.

sticks, stones, feathers, bones... these are 4 of my favorite things.  just look around my home.

fantastic leather sandals.  beautiful but too flat for me.  i still want them.

amethyst soap.  would look so lovely on my bathtub shelf with all the other crystals.

i once had a ring with a band like that.  i lost it at the beach.  never got over it.

friday finds

Ahhh, my beloved enamelware addiction.  There should seriously be a support group for it.  This collection of lovely vintage enamel pieces began with Number 1... the milk can.  I love it.  I hope one day to find a French water pitcher like Number 2 at a yard sale in Crossplains or White House.  And it being French... one might wonder how it got there.  Number 3 grabbed me with it's rust-ic style and I really like the handle.  The old soap holder of Number 4 entices me and I can envision it attached to the wall of my front porch right above the water faucet.  But then I would be left wanting one for the back porch too... and that would be Ok.

We Sell Shelves

I tell you what, we have been truly blessed in our little endeavor of shelf making.  Two years ago for Christmas I asked Shaun to build me some kind of shelf for my claw foot bathtub.  I showed him a picture or two of ideas and he came up with building a shelf from old tobacco sticks.  I absolutely loved and still love it to this day.  A couple of months later I listed the shelf, not mine, as a custom built item in my etsy shop.  We sold our first one a few months after they were listed and have been selling them since.  Once we even ran out of sticks and let me tell you they aren't easy to find.  I'm not sure where we'll look when we run out again... eek.  It fascinates me to have the feeling of our creation being shipped all over the United States.  So much that I sat down and went through two years of sales and made a US map of which states our shelves live.  I am pretty amazed.  We only lack ten states of having a shelf in every state!  We also have two that live in Canada and one in England.  It has definitely turned out to be fun and a nice little side job!

Aside from the fact that her tub is beautiful, I adore the chandelier and built in wall cubby.  Also her tub fixtures are so cool in black.  Oh and the shelf isn't bad either!

 

 



Buffalo Hunt

Sometimes, when you order something online, you make a friend.  Especially when you shop on a handmade and vintage site such as Etsy.com, where I have my shop Peppysis.  I was in the market for a new cross-body bag and came across the cutest, handmade bag with fur on the front and had to have it.  After communicating back and forth with the lovely owner of Skywalkerflutes, I wound up receiving my new bag with an added surprise inside for the kids at the DC.   She had sent me a handful of buffalo teeth, which she sells in her shop.  They already had a hole drilled in each one and were nice and shiny.  The kids loved making necklaces and going on a buffalo hunt to the dirt pile!
