a Fall open house

Our friend Joann that lives in Crossplains, TN has an extremely lovely and well put together home.  Her style of decorating her home is primitives and antiques with maybe a little Shaker style.  Twice a year she hosts an open house and sale where you can view her home all decorated up for the season and also buy things that she makes and is ready to part with.  She has a few family members who also put a few antiques in the sale.  It is always a joy to see her work and we always leave her home inspired.

Autumn Picks

 

By nature I am not a cold weather girl.  Since I really don't have a choice, I choose to look for the comforting aspects of the season.  A warm blanket, a hot cup of coffee, seeing beautiful colors.  my picks are in fall fashion and things that I am loving right now.

 

1   Bruce's Sweet Potato Pancake Mix.  I can only get it at World Market around here.

2   Melmac plates.  Mine are from a yard sale.  They are just like the ones we had growing up.

3   My online friend's beautiful pottery creations.  Melissa of Bridgeman Pottery

4   Gorgeous fall crochet garland.  I only wish my hands could create this.

5   I am usually a vanilla creamer gal but a change in weather sparks a different taste.

 

Days of our Day Care: Fall

Fall has fallen in the main playroom at the day care.  I decided to take down the dinosaur bulletin board painting and replace it with a scene more fitting for Fall.  It is plainly water color on freezer paper.  I also printed leaf templates for the kids to color.  They used crayons and scribbled all over the paper but when the leaves are cut out they have vibrant colors of autumn on each leaf.  So, we strung them and hung them from the ceiling. 

 

Next we will start working on our scarecrow and outside display.  I already have the pumpkins for that one and last week we gathered the cornstalks leftover in our garden.  I like when they have a hand in helping, especially in the garden.  Which was totally mowed down yesterday.  Except for the zinnias which my husband so lovingly did not cut down.  It's nice to have someone who understands what I love.
