book crush

So... I'm kinda in love with a book right now.  Not sure how soon the library will be getting this one back.  Although I'm sure I can't renew it because I was on the wait list FOREVER!  You probably remember it from my "literally on the library hold shelf" posts.  It's a home décor book by Justina Blakeney called The New Bohemians  -  Cool & Collected Homes.  I seriously didn't pull it out of my library bag for a couple of days after I got it but when I did... man it was on!  I poured over it's pages of beautiful pictures and homes and people and their stories and all of it literally writing down page numbers that I wanted to photograph and keep because I didn't have my camera with me at the time.  It's so homey and inspirational.  I made notes on several things that I went home after work and did.  I still have notes on other things yet to come.  Just look...

Just another hint to redo my utensils in my kitchen that I still haven't done.  It's on my list of things to do next.

I am digging the bookshelf by the bed and feel I need one instead of the table that I have now.  I constantly have books stacked among other things.  The bookshelf looks more like it's stored on purpose.  I like it.

The greenhouse.... I'm drooling.

A good place for a "find it"!  What a colorful life!

I love the "adopt and idea" sections.

Aaaahhhh this rug!

I liked how the books are in color order on the shelves.

The fella from this space literally hand sewed all of this denim on his couch over the last few years a piece at a time as he got it and is still patching it on.  How cool is that?

Yea.. that's my hair and that chair is bad ass.  That's how I want the seats in my truck to look.. soon.

Even the cover is gorgeous.

And that's what we did that day... at least one of us.

Happy Birthday Sonya Lopez!!!

Seriously... she's a gal I went to school with and haven't seen in twenty three years but I still remember her birthday is October 12th.  Weird what you hold onto.

beads n feathers

I needed to make some feathers hanging on strings for part of my niece's birthday presents.  One for a window and the other for... well... she hasn't gotten it yet so I can't say.  It's just added décor.  I also was in the mood for something like this after putting up a tension rod in my bathroom window and hanging lovely draping sheers that I can pull back but still enjoy the view when they are open.  It's not exactly what I've been itching for in there but it will work.  Anyway, I want something special and reflective hanging in that window as well. So. Today at the day care I gathered up feathers and beads and twine and string and within minutes I had some beautiful boho gems!  It's going to be hard to let any of them go.  But they are lovely charms that are charming the heck out of me!

I simply tied the twine around the top of the feathers and strung beads on.  Not a tough thing to do at all but oh so pretty.  Please excuse the lack of a good backdrop in the pics!

journal pages

I still carry my inspiration journal.  Truth: I attended a health food seminar last winter in which I needed a piece of paper for the hostess to add up my beef purchase.  I peeled a sliver of paper from my journal and after the gal said "don't forget your inspiration journal" with a funny look on her face as if teasing me.  Maybe if I let that thought go I could say Inspiration Journal without thinking about it.  Anyway... I've been inspired by a few new-to-me blogs the last couple of days, made a collage for my journal and thought I would share.

The passage: MysticMamma

The pics: originally from other sources but found on BohemianHomes

Originally inspired by: frommoontomoon

I am dreaming of hanging plants in my bathroom above the claw foot tub when it's time to bring them back inside for the cold winter months.  I expect tension from Shaun about poking holes in the ceiling.  My answer will be... build me a greenhouse.

The passage and pictures will be cut out and glued into my inspiration journal.  You may browse the blogs mentioned to get the whole stories and larger pictures.

I was overly touchy and slightly grope-y over the weekend after reading this article.

Find more about my journalling here and here.

I am craving a new book to read... got any suggestions?
