pops of color
I've been spending a lot of time in the Oasis lately. When I was transplanting my aloe last week I noticed how filthy (as if I had not seen this for... ever) the glass on the tables were. So after the aloe move I got out the cleaner and polished them up. While doing this, it hit me that hey... stick some color under there. So I popped in the house and got an old handkerchief and an old cloth napkin. I love the pops of color in this place.

h-aloe
Aloe Vera. I love having this plant. I can't remember a time in my adult life that I have not had an aloe plant... or five. They are wonderful and extremely handy. I've repaired many, many skin burns with cuttings from my plants. The plants that I have now, although they are younger, are actually descendants from plants that an old friend gave me in my early twenties.
I had some extremely large plants that I "let go" one season. I felt horrible killing them. Honestly, it only took one good Tennessee frost/freeze and they were gone. But I did get my enamelware tub back that they had taken over. That thing had to have weighed eighty or more pound with all of those in there. Shaun had to help me move it several times.
So, I have three very small, very overgrown pots of Aloe. I decided, since I have cut back on my plant buying this year and have several pots of dirt sitting around from last year, to separate the babies. Once I pulled them out of the pots I was a little shocked yet not surprised at how many plants were shacking up in those little pots. They divided up quickly and I had to walk around the porch and look for more pots. Which weren't hard to find.
While some people will tell you to buy certain dirt or soil test... blah, blah, blah... aloe don't care. I plucked them from their tiny abode and stuck them in that old dirt and I tell you they will thrive. The only thing is... I now have seven pots of aloe instead of two. And I have one more pot to go. I am not promising that they will all come inside for the winter this year. Please don't call the plant police.

There were seven plants in that one little pot. One of them was not healthy so I let it go :(
My camera battery went dead so here are pics from the ones I transplanted last Saturday.
And one more to go.

patchwork shower curtain
this project had been on my mind for a while. A few times during the winter this year I found myself cutting squares on a whim but that was about all. So when it came time to sew everything together ideas were flying. Which, obviously, is the best time to get something done. I broke out some blue jean and pieces of a flag, shotgun shells bags and even some old fabric with hunting dogs on it. I simply made tabs on the top to hang it. Nothing fancy. But it's up there and I love it.
There is patchwork something in almost every room of our home. And it is things I have made. Bed spread (and here)bedroom curtains for both bedrooms, shower curtain... and soon to be bath mat :)
Seriously! Whohas a cell phone holder handy whilst you use the john? I do... that's who.
Reckon I need to go back over with the scissors.

blue jean patchwork queen
Sometimes, a combination of things just comes together. A need and a want. Well.. .really a want and a want to in this case. I love the blue jean patchwork couch in Justina Blakeney's book The New Bohemian. She also has a tutorial on making a blue jean, patchwork pouf. Both of these items are hand sewn patchwork where the stitching shows and it is imperfect yet so perfect at the same time.
So, my "want" is generally and always for a new bath mat that I never seem to buy for myself. Gross but true... I have two or three in the laundry room right now with cat puke on them. I really like ones that I can just throw in the washing machine. Are you following my lead here? Minus the cat puke?
This bath mat from Walmart Plus blue jean scraps, which I have a ton of, is going to happen.
Maybe one day I will continue to blog and show you a picture. In the mean time... I'm headed to Walmart :)

4 Etsy Finds
Well hey y'all!!! I've been off work since Thursday... needed a little Laurie time... and I've thought about blogging every day. It really doesn't take that much time but it's the fact of stopping what I am doing to stare a the computer. No thanks. But over coffee on Sunday morning.... OK!
I've been on Etsy this morning... drooling.
I am in absolute love with the morel walking stick. Amazing. I showed it to Shaun and he said "oh, you need that!" Here is the LINK.
These earrings! I've got to where I don't ever wear earrings because they make my earlobe itch. But these are beautiful! Here is the LINK.
I actually did buy this soap. Activated charcoal is supposed to be good for skin problems as is rosemary. This soap has both. Here is the LINK.
1OneCraftyMomma has some fantastic handmade shirts. This is one of my faves from her. It looks so comfy! Here is the LINK.
Maybe my blogging inspiration will continue and I'll walk around the house taking pictures so I can show you what I've been up to.
Have a great day! And Happy Father's Day! Not that any Fathers read this :)
