A Sunny Saturday in February

Last Saturday, apart from being slightly breezy, was a beautiful day.  The forecast was sixty degrees and sunny and that it was.  The perfect day to use the clothesline... for towels.  I don't like my bed sheets abused by strong breezes.  They run a greater risk of being blown off the line especially with as gusty at the wind turned out to be.  The towels didn't seem to mind and it really helped cut down on drying time!

I have decided to start using cloth napkins.  Mainly because I am so spoiled to store bought throw-aways.  I feel attached to my ways in the napkin and paper towel department and find myself having to buy them too often.  I own perfectly good cloth napkins that do not get used and washed and just lie in a drawer ignored of their usefulness.  So I dug them out and washed them, hanging them on the line to dry.

Weekend Shots

Lucky for me, over the weekend I was able to get out and take a walk through the woods on Friday and Saturday.  Friday's walk was down through the creek and back up power line hill.  Katie Bug went with me.  She had apparently perfumed herself by rolled in something dead and stunk to high heaven.  There wasn't an inch of her that wasn't contaminated.  She wound up spending her weekend sleeping outside in her pen and Saturday I decided it was time for her to take a swim in the pond.  It helped to a degree but Saturday night was also spent in her pen.  We had a very warm weekend, windy but very warm for February.  Despite what the ground hog said, spring seems to be on it's way judging by the buttercups I found.  I also found an array of other woodsy beauty including the sweetest little nest I've ever seen perched on nothing but a couple of thorny twigs but in fantastic condition.  I also spied some sort of lichen that I've not seen before on a dead tree stump.  The spirit in the woods never fails to show me something new.

Walking down power line hill at the creek.  About half way down at this point.

A cat tail.

This is officially one of my new favorite pictures.

I can almost see a little puff of spores billowing out if they were touched.

I love sharing my walks and world with you.  It seems lately I have been sharing much of other people's worlds and my opinions of them.  Good opinions of course.  This week it's all about my part of the world.

February DC Decor

I couldn't stop myself on Tuesday once I received the red string of lights from my sister, Mary Evelyn.  I had already made the two strands of felt heart garland to hang, that was so easy to make and seriously took about twenty minutes, and already had the doilies.  I made the cardboard and glitter hearts to hang that I used my new favorite mod podge and glitter "paint" when mixed together for excellent coverage.  I hung my drawing for the bulletin board that we used last year and hung some card stock cut out hearts from a couple of door frames that I have had a few years now.  I actually saved those from my last job before I opened my "stay on farm" job here.  I left my snowflake cut outs that I am in love with since it's is still winter. I also brought out a bunch of vinyl clings that my Mom gave me.  Now all I lack is taking down January and putting up February.  That will happen later in the afternoon today.  I really enjoy decorating for the seasons and months and keeping things colorful and happy here at the day care.  I always have tons of things hanging from the ceiling and completely make use of this space.

it's a good day today, it's a good day today

Anybody who watches tv around here should know that little tune, It's a good day today, from the Goodwill guy on their commercial.  Me and Mary Evelyn were singing it yesterday afternoon while walking around the Nashville Flea Market.  Which is what I wanted to share with you this morning.  It's going to be a good day today in Nashville, weather wise and all, and the Nashville Flea Market is this weekend.  There's not too many yard sales going on yet and this is a good place to get your feet wet with bargains.  We came away with several yesterday!  Almost makes me want to go back today!

Follow your arrow where ever it points.

I love to see all the costume glistening in the sun.

I brought this little scale home with me :)  I didn not pay ten bucks for it though.

I don't know what people do with these but they are everywhere out here!

I am in look for rugs like this.  I don't need expensive ones although I do enjoy them as well.  Gives me something to garage sale for this summer.

I also bought the enamelware refrigerator tray here on the left.  It has rusty holes in the bottom and will be the new home of a couple of herbs in a couple of months!  Yay!

These reminded me of you Jenn.

Have you ever seen such a pile in your life?

Thoughts to live by..... It's a good day today, it's a good day today!  Enjoy it!
