A Saturday Funny

I came across this book the other day while looking up books for miniatures.
While the author is serious as a heart attack I think it is hilarious.
I reckon it's something to do with all the cat hair instead of sucking it up in the vacuum!

But wait... when I looked up the book cover to show you... it also showed some of the projects.  I've never understood how to felt but this book shows you how to do it with cat hair for sure.

If there is a fuzzy cat on my Christmas cards next year you will know where it came from!

HERE is a link to more pictures.  Wow... the things these creative people come up with are amazing!

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY EVELYN!!!!

a saturday funny

Funny camping pictures I found on facebook.

Portable fire pit.  Kinda cool huh?

Because dogs need campers too.  I love the dog inside the camper looking out.

I've felt this way for the last two years about our camper.  So glad we are finally putting it to use... even though it gets really dirty and muddy from four wheeling!

a saturday funny

There is a local country radio station out of Lebanon, TN that I can pick up most of the time.  When I am on my way to work at six o'clock they play the whole "get up... get out of bed" musical montage.  It's pretty long and has funny tunes and things like that.  Towards the end they play the following clip and it makes me laugh so hard.

I am going to set it as my ringtone for when I have to set my alarm on my phone.  Sometimes I could use a good laugh to wake me up.

a saturday funny

My niece Lacey sent this to me on facebook... during naptime at the day care yesterday.
Needless to say I woke up two children laughing.
The second time I watched it I held a towel to my face and wasn't quite so loud.

Just a funny for those thrift shoppers out there like us.

There now... is that appropriate?
Sorry... sometimes smart ass comments just pop into my head that only I understand.
But it feels better to get them out.
Have a wonderful weekend!

it's a good day today, it's a good day today

Anybody who watches tv around here should know that little tune, It's a good day today, from the Goodwill guy on their commercial.  Me and Mary Evelyn were singing it yesterday afternoon while walking around the Nashville Flea Market.  Which is what I wanted to share with you this morning.  It's going to be a good day today in Nashville, weather wise and all, and the Nashville Flea Market is this weekend.  There's not too many yard sales going on yet and this is a good place to get your feet wet with bargains.  We came away with several yesterday!  Almost makes me want to go back today!

Follow your arrow where ever it points.

I love to see all the costume glistening in the sun.

I brought this little scale home with me :)  I didn not pay ten bucks for it though.

I don't know what people do with these but they are everywhere out here!

I am in look for rugs like this.  I don't need expensive ones although I do enjoy them as well.  Gives me something to garage sale for this summer.

I also bought the enamelware refrigerator tray here on the left.  It has rusty holes in the bottom and will be the new home of a couple of herbs in a couple of months!  Yay!

These reminded me of you Jenn.

Have you ever seen such a pile in your life?

Thoughts to live by..... It's a good day today, it's a good day today!  Enjoy it!

Antiquing we will go

Last Saturday, after running from place to place and knocking shops off my list, my sister and I weren't quite ready to call it a day.  So after my last "have to" stop we headed to grab an ice cream cone.  Across the street from the Dairy Queen, there is an antique mall called Rare Bird Antiques.  It's been there for lots of years and when I was a child I remember the corner housed a pizza place.  It is right next door to the church I grew up going to.  While there are tons of treasures at the Rare Bird we seldom find much that we have to have and we almost didn't go.  Turns out we both came upon several treasures that we just couldn't leave behind.  I bought a couple of birds for next year's Christmas tree, a gift for her birthday and a candy dish to use as a planter for my smallest baby tears plant.  Mary Evelyn got really lucky and found several items that she collects at great prices.  We were both glad we stopped in.  Even though you haven't had much luck in the past at a certain place, it always pays to look again!

I wanted this tray!  They wanted more than I wanted to pay :(

Some may not like it tarnished and rusty.... but we do!

Saturdays are for Thrifting

Since I don't have my fancy downtown job anymore, that I can frequent my favorite thrift shops during lunch breaks and on a very regular basis, I have to squeeze in a visit to my favorite thrift shops here and there on weekends.  My sister and I headed out bright and early this morning to do just that.  I had a couple of errands to take care of, including a trip to the library, which I adore, to pick up books on the hold shelf and new kid books for the day care to read the following week or two.  My sister has a great thrift store that she goes to, that is owned by a church friend and his wife, that is directly around the corner from the library.  It was our first thrift stop of the day and the best one too!  I spent twenty bucks and came home with some great find and so did she!   We wound up going to more thrift shops up towards Springfield and this was by far our favorite spot of the whole day!    Check out their ad here on the blog, Dixie Thrift! Click the ad and it will tell you where to find them.  You ought to stop in and say hello!  They'd love to see you!

Here are some pics from our day.  Enjoy! XO

This pretty rug needs a little love and repair.  It landed at the right place... my home.

And at other thrift stores...

I spotted a few really neat chairs today.  This was one of them.  I love the fabric.
Not sure if... I just don't know what to say about this bowl.  I'm not even going to try.
This was a coffin wheeler and someone put a top on it.  Pretty sweet!
 My lovely co-thrifter.
And this is what I woke up to this morning.  Got to the bottom of the hill in Millersville and there wasn't a bit on the ground or trees.  Change in altitude I reckon.

Saturday's Walk

This weekend I chose to take my walk through our woods on Saturday instead of Sunday and it's a good thing!  Sunday it wound up raining all day long so I would have had to put on a rain coat and left the camera at home.  I don't think the wild life suspected that I would be out.  I saw six Jakes and six or seven deer along with one squirrel and lots of birds.  Here are a few of my favorite pictures from my stroll.

I have names for different parts of our property.  This is Fernbank.

The top part of this wild orchid spent the winter inside my house the year before last.

Surprisingly this bank was not near as slick as the creek.

I had a surprise friend to join me!

This is our waterfall.  With all the rain yesterday I imagine she was really flowing!
