flea market trip

although i have not bee yard sailing with my sister all summer long i recently felt the urge to visit the Nashville flea market which we do a couple of times a year.  my sister, my niece and i had a perfectly lovely day and as usual i took plenty of pictures.

we swiped their floral halos and wore them for a bit.

found some ice colds pbr's which weren't bad but they weren't really good either.  at least they were cold.

then we handed our head dresses to these ladies.  the stiff on the right took hers off nit two minutes later.  stick in the mud.

 

he looks amused doesn't he.  i think he did like my dress though.

Spring Things

A tiny list of things on the first day of Spring that would make my Spring a whole lot springier!

1 new mirrored shades from Walmart $5.00 so it does hurt too much to get them scratched

2 new Converse because my old ones are wearing mighty thin from the soles to the holes!

3 This maxi skirt from Forever21 is they'd ever get it back in stock.

4 would someone please make a miracle cellulite cream?  I'm not eat up with it but I'm self conscious of it at the same time.  Avon used to make a good cream that I tried years ago.  Walgreens should have the Nivea pretty decently priced.

5 new garden gloves!  a gotta have for me!  I've got holes in the fingers of mine which goes against the point of wearing them!  I get these at Tractor Supply and they are about ten dollars.  I like the durability and the vel-cro wrists.

Looks like I need to put in some overtime at the dc!

misplaced goods

I have lost three things lately.  Truly four if you count the ability to remember what I did with these things.  I carried around the first dvd in my yoga set, my favorite one, and a brand new taxidermy dvd that I haven't even watched yet in my bag back and forth from home to the day care for a couple of days.  I last remember sticking them in between pages of a book so they wouldn't get scratched up tossing loosely in my bag.  I am almost convinced that I returned them to the library in whatever book I stuck them in.  Or maybe not.... I still glance around and in a new place that I may have stuck them every day.  It's been almost two weeks since I've seen them.

The other thing is more valuable and more important as it is one of my hand guns.  It stays in it's little blue and black case that is about the size of a wallet.  It is always either in the kitchen or in my car and it is in neither at this point.  I almost remember the last time I thought about it accompanying me on a journey to the mall.  I don't remember if I put it in the car with me that day or not.  Either way, it is not where it is supposed to be.  That mall trip was early October.  I realized it's misplacement also two weeks ago.

What happens to short term memory?  I can remember what I wore to work yesterday and what I cooked for supper last Friday night.  I can even remember what I did on my birthday last month.  I remember easy things and these lost items too should be easy but the fact of their misplacement is where it gets foggy.  I am certain that I thought it was a good idea to lay them where I did at the time.  Partially it is my own problem of not putting things back where they belong.  "Oh, I'll remember" is what I think at the time.  Then days later I haven't a clue.

They say it happens as you get older but I've pretty much always been this way.  Shaun just taps his foot and rolls his eyes with a smile every time I misplace my keys.  I am the absolute worst at that.  It's safer for me just to leave them in the car.

I know I will feel so much better when they've been found.  I plan to ask the library if anyone turned the dvd's in and if not I plan to forget about it for a while.  The pistol will show up and I will slap my forehead and call myself silly for putting it where I did.   The part I dislike is that it constantly weighs on my mind.  On top of every little stress and part of daily life there it lies like a cherry on the sundae.  Makes me feel like a bag lady carrying around bags full of little troubles ready to sit them down.  But then again I'd probably forget where I put my bags.

I've been lucky enough to run across a few things lately that I didn't know existed. 

Not that there aren't a million things that I didn't know were around.

But I was pretty impressed by these.

I've been compiling my little list for a few weeks now.

And feel I could keep it going and going and going.

Maybe it will be a new Friday series.

Once a month or something.

I would be happier than a pig in slop for you to share something new with me.

Something I probably didn't know was out there.

Or maybe I did.

Either way.... Talk to me!

It feels so Italian restaurant-ish.

I originally saw the pictures on pinterest.

But have found the candles for sale on Amazon.

I hope to find them in my Christmas stocking.

Even if I am the one who put them there.

This yarn holder looks pretty original and cool.

Pretty and perfect for the knitting type.

Of which I am not.

Have never been able to get the actual hang of it.

Or sit still that long.

It grows naturally at one place that I have found at our creek.
I overwintered one plant that I found lying loose a few years back.
Then replanted it the next spring.

from terrain

oh how lovely the spring collection is from terrain!  

I truly adore the coloring book.  I have a goal to have it colored by fall.  That's a lot of late nights at the picnic table coloring!  I can't wait!

I am a terrarium kind of gal and I really like this little notepad and the floral tape for sure!

My man isn't fond of table cloths so I don't use them much in the house.  I do however use them on the picnic table on the back porch and really like this dusty rose color.  kinda of reminds me of Mary Evelyn's wedding colors.

I am all about herbal medicine and any book that can teach me more I welcome.  I like the way this one looks, especially the pictures.  You can view more on Amazon... no recipes though.  Those are for top secret book owners... like me!

Four Fanciful Things: Cuff Me

Face it kids... Cuffs are Cool.  Not the kind you wear when you get in trouble... the fashion statement kind.  Or maybe just state of mind kind.  I have a dark navy beaded cuff that I call my "power bracelet."  It reminds me of Wonder Woman and can be used to block unwanted criticism or whatever.  The right cuff needs to be comfortable and not too tight.  I like cuffs because they don't move around like bangles.  Not that I have anything against bangles... they're cool too.  But in more of a jingle-jangle way... not so much female super hero.  Which is necessary at times.

 I feel so thankful that terrain has included pictures with plants on their site to really make me want them even more.  The pots they offer are ever so cool.  Some out of my personal price range, I'm not going to lie, but does put me on the serious look out for imposters.

The sad part of this beautiful and colorful list is that I can't order the items from Ikea online and the store nearest home is four hours away in Atlanta.  Is there a roadtrip in my future?  I can just see chunks of cold watermelon in the sweet bowl and me... lounging in the woods at Camp Hulsey in the hammock wiping the watermelon from my chin with the cheeky, matching dishtowels. 

Ahhh a summer dream.

 

 

I am in search of a new bathing suit and am frankly a bit shocked at what I have been finding.  I am approaching forty for crying out loud.  I don't want my bottoms to go below my hip bone.  I want my tush covered people.. is that so wrong?  And they aren't cheap to boot.

 I love this blue one from Ann Taylor with the Chevron stripes.  So cute!

Layer Cake Shop is one of my very favorite shops online!  It is where I find very satisfying selections of things like baker's twine, cello bags, labels, and tinting and flavoring supplies.  They have reasonable pricing and fast shipping.  I have never had a bad experience with these gals and recommend them anytime!  Even if you don't bake it is a great place for fun stuff that can also be used in craft supplies and parties.

Four Fanciful Things

 

I found Dots while on my lunch break one day at my previous employer.  I have always loved to browse uncharted territory in search of new honey pots and this is exactly what I found at Dots. 

My favorite items that I have from there include mostly solid colored long sleeve T's, short sleeve T's and adjustable strap tanks.  If I ever need a quick top for a night out I know I can find it there.  I also love that the tops that I get have a great length and come down past my waist which is good for layering or normal wear.  They also have awesome clearance sales and a lot of the time I can get my tops for less than five dollars each.  The location that I go to is by WalMart on Dickerson Road.  So if you are in the area stop by!
