a Fall open house

Our friend Joann that lives in Crossplains, TN has an extremely lovely and well put together home.  Her style of decorating her home is primitives and antiques with maybe a little Shaker style.  Twice a year she hosts an open house and sale where you can view her home all decorated up for the season and also buy things that she makes and is ready to part with.  She has a few family members who also put a few antiques in the sale.  It is always a joy to see her work and we always leave her home inspired.

I am loving her garden fountains.  Here are some more.

And just in case you wanted to see... HERE is Joann's house at Christmas time.  She does have a knack for it!

lovin right now

A pictorial list of things I am "lovin right now."  Blue Diamond roasted salted almonds are salty enough to make me crave them at seven in the morning with my... dash of cinnamon in my early morning coffee that's already flavored with vanilla creamer.  I am on my third Skyline Fever tee.  I have Dylan, Sea Song and now Live by the Moon.  Unisex sizing is my favorite in a medium.  I wear them all day and sleep in them all night.  Currently craving the Janis and Fleetwood tees.  I pair them with my ebay ordered, used and slightly broken in American Eagle Artist fit jeans of which I am between sizes meaning the four is too small and the six is too big, both in a long cut, but loving them anyway.  I call the four sassy and the six comfortable.  My OPI Russian Navy is the color on my toes that I crave when any other color is painted there.  It may have been featured in a previous "loving right now" post but remains a favorite.  I am also lovin my hobby of browsing certain favorite blogs online, copying and pasting favorite pictures and then gluing and taping them into my journal.  I have begun my second modge podged, composition journal called "inspiration journal 2".  The pages are already filling with dreamy pics, recipes and thoughts.  I love to look back on what I was "lovin right now" at the time.  My current favorite blog is FromMoontoMoon.
What are you "lovin right now"?

root baskets

Root Basket - hanging basket that holds root vegetables such as garlic, onions and potatoes.  There's the old fashioned wire kind, of which i have and use as a planter, and then there's the handmade, hand woven kind.  These have got me drooling just a touch.  Enough so that I plan to check and see if I can hang the wire one that I've got in my pantry so as it's out of the way enough.  If not, these are always an option and they hang on the wall.  I truly feel that I only need one to use for my garlic that didn't get braided this Summer.  I simply want to cut the stems and roots and store them in something airy and big enough.  The original "root basket" that I found is sold out.  I have found the following from Amazon to Etsy.

Wire storage baskets hanging on a branch, drying flowers and herbs, coffee/tea bar and photos!
Then again... I could hang wire baskets from my herb drying stick across the sink.  It doesn't get much light.

Alas... I will try to make do with what I've got.  These pictures sure have given me some good ideas.  I wonder if there's a tutorial on youtube... hmmmm.

new comfort food

New comfort food... new to me because I've not tried them quite like this before.  I follow several blogs of several really good cooks that I have come to know and trust and when they have new recipes, as many of them often do, I really want to try them.  Especially with thoughts in mind of cooler weather not far off.  Comfort food is a must.  I love the smell of soup cooking in our home or a roast in the crock pot on a really cold day... comfort food.
